Pediatric Urology Fellowship
In collaboration with
Rady Childrens Hospital of San Diego, UCSD offers a two-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program in pediatric urology. Applicants must complete the
Universal Pediatric Urology Fellowship Application Form.

Program Description
Year 1: The first year is an intense clinical experience that exposes the fellow to the entire spectrum of operative and inpatient pediatric urology. The fellow will spend 4 ½ days per week in the operating room with two half-days per month in the spinal defects clinic. The fellow is responsible for the urology service and overseeing resident activities. The first-year fellow is also in charge of directing weekly scheduled conferences.
Year 2: The goal of the second year is to provide clinical practice experience, under supervision but with a great deal of independence. In addition to clinical activity, there is protected time for academic pursuits. The fellow is expected to produce at least two papers during the second year. The fellow will have their own clinic and operative cases generated from that clinic. The fellow will also be responsible for resident teaching during clinic time.
The fellow is also encouraged to enroll in the
CREST (Clinical Research Enhancement through Supplemental Training) program. This program is geared toward developing the skills that clinicians will need to excel in clinical research. The curriculum includes courses in epidemiology, patient oriented research, biostatistics, outcomes research, data management, and grant writing. The program starts during the second half of the 1st year and continues throughout the second year. Those who are interested will be given the opportunity to apply CREST credits towards a masters in advanced studies in clinical research.
